FAQ
Answer: Soot is a natural occurance in any candle. If your candle is continuiously releasing soot, It can be the result of: - carbon build-up on the the wick
- not trimming the wick of the candle
- over-burning the candle
- burning the candle in an area that has a draft from a vent or window
Tip: If you are experiencing excessive sooting, try trimming your wick to 1/8", moving your candle to another location, or extinguishing your candle if it has been burning for more than 3-4 hours at a time.
Answer: Fragrance is subjective, and some fragrances are stronger than others. Try to move the candle to another location. Rule Of Thumb: Single wick candles for smaller rooms, Double Wick candles for medium size rooms, and triple wicks for larger type rooms.
Answer: When a candle tunnels, It is likely that the candle has not been burning long enough for the wax to pool from the edge to edge Tip: If the candle has begun to tunnel, burn the candle for 3-4 hours to allow the candle to self-correct. Continue to burn in 3-4 hour increments until the candle self-corrects.
Sometimes, wax and fragrance can clog the wick. Tip: Extinguish the flame, let the candle cool, trim the wick to 1/8", and twist the wick with your fingers to loosen the fibers. This helps the wax and fragrance absorb better.
The wax product we use for our candles has a specific make up with soy wax and other botanical oils that do cause a certain amount of air to penetrate the wax as its warming up. Due to this process your candle may show small pin hole tunneling as a result. This is normal.
Soy candles are truly a "thing" of their own. The soy wax we work with to create our candles can sometimes be VERY touchy so every candle we produce will have its own texture and appearance. Some of the fragrance oils used have a slightly darker hue than others which may produce a slightly darker candle. Our candles sometimes have a tendency to not appear smooth after cooling, this is due to the natural ingrediences we use. Lonicera Candles are made completely by hand and the end result is a long lasting clean burning candle.
Wet spots happen when the wax cures away from the glass, due to the temp, etc. Your candle will still smell and burn amazingly. The wet spot is more cosmetic than anything else and is just hard to avoid when dealing with all natural soy wax that can be touchy to work with many times over. Dont worry, You'll still love that candle. We promise!
